Welcome to Gleaners Chapel, a site devoted to the search for deeper spirituality from ancient insights free from the lifeless dogma of mainstream churches.
This is for seekers unsatisfied with bland, saccharine offerings of contemporary religion, for abuse and cult survivors, and others turned off by plastic TV preachers, childish theology, and pompous ecclesiastics resplendent in their robes bought with believers money. IF you’re sick of the hypocrisy and BS of modern Christianity and yearn for the “strong meat” that Paul promised, too, this is the place for you.
The Gleaners Chapel is the third incarnation of my blog. I started out as a “Renegade Catholic“, evolved into a “Curious Hermit” and now with this I have arrived in the sanctum sanctorum at last. The Chapel is devoted to continuing prophetic criticism of the Christian Church, especially the Roman Catholic sect in which I was raised (and abused), for exploring mysteries of the universe, secrets of the Bible, and the lost gnostic methods of the Early Fathers to attain the knowledge of God, as we hurtle towards the End of Days.
Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? 😀
There will be plenty of speculation, unique discoveries from history and Scripture, and some humor. Expect the occasional indignant rant but hopefully, preachiness will be kept to a minimum.
I am a Christian hermit and mystic, made free by a genuine miracle. But, as I tell my agnostic, atheist and Wiccan friends, all who have good grounds for suspicions of believers, that the Inquisition would come for me long before them. So I hope if you’ve made it this far you’ll join me, as I try to earn that excommunication from the Catholic Church granted at my request.
In my view, the clergy abuse crisis is an obvious sign that the Church got many basic things wrong. It’s just the tip of the iceberg, and the latest proof that the Roman Catholic Church is incapable of real reform in head or members. And there’s nothing we can do about it. Except, that is, to reclaim the true, authentic spirituality of Christ and the Early Church for ourselves. This consisted of a mature, genuine faith, wisdom, and humanity that the priests squashed under clericalism, legalism, and by fostering dependence upon false cults, including that of the papacy.
If we can’t save others, IMHO, we can at least save our own souls, no thanks to them — and provide an alternative to Bad Mother Church for others who wake up.
As Jesus promised, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”(John 8:31)
Let’s hold him to that, shall we?
